Military Ministry

Tour of Duty, Preparing Our Hearts for Deployment by Sara Horn

Tuesday, January 17, facilitated by Shirley Flanagan 9:30‐11:30 A.M.

Ladies, even if you are at the end of your husband’s tour of duty or you don’t think he has another deployment coming, please come to support the ladies who are presently going through a deployment or about to. We all need support and encouragement from each other; and we can learn from others’ experiences. But most of all, we have a God we can lean on through all challenges.

Sara Horn writes, “As founder of Wives of Faith, a faith‐based military wives ministry, I’ve talked with hundreds of women who want to lean on God during deployment but struggle because the weight of responsibility they carry seems so heavy. I pray this study will remind us why we don’t have to carry that weight on our shoulders. In Christ we find help and hope.”

We’ll start our meeting, as we have in the past, with the bigger Ladies’ Tuesday Morning Bible Study group in the multi‐purpose room with fellowship. Then we’ll split off to a separate room at 10:00. Hope to see you there! Books can be bought at LifeWay Bookstore for $11.95 plus tax. It has 7 chapters; but I feel that we will probably take longer than 7 weeks! If you let Shirley know by January 8 that you are going to attend the study, she can get the books at a discount.

CARE BOXES – March 22

The next shipment of care boxes to our deployed members, family, and friends will be March 22. So we will be collecting items between now and then in the collection box in the fellowship hall at church. A shopping list of recommended items are listed below and also found on the military table in the fellowship hall at church. Forms for names and addresses for the recipients are also on this table.

If you’d like to bake items, please bring them by the church anytime on Wednesday, March 21. A collection point for these items will be in the multi-purpose room next to the church office.

Boxes will be packed the morning of Thursday, March 22, in the multi-purpose room. If you’d like to help in packing, please contact Shirley Flanagan.

As always, thanks for your help in this. Be sure to look at the military board in the church hallway to read thank you notes from the recipients of past boxes.
