GAiN Jamaica Trip, March 2009

Lisa and Stephanie Elburn and Ryan Smith have returned from their Jamaica trip. Here's their quick initial report:

Thank you all for your prayers as we ministered in Jamaica last week. We returned home around 11pm last night. All are well and all have been touched by what the Lord has accomplished both in the lives of those we ministered to and at how he has chosen to stretch and grow us.

We are thankful for all the gifts and support you gave to the Jamaican people-they felt the love of the Lord all the way from Seaford, Virginia in the United States. Many Bibles were given to people who would otherwise never own one for themselves. Also, many reading glasses to people who could not otherwise have seen to read for themselves. Food baskets were distributed to shut-ins and young mothers with anywhere from 2 to a dozen or more children to feed. Roofs were put on, homes were repaired and completed. A reading program was launched in the Mammee River community which is an extremely poor community where most of the children cannot afford to go to school as uniforms are required.

Even laundry was a ministry as Stephanie and some of the team members stopped to help some of the children who were washing clothes in the Mammee River. Lives were given to Christ-which is the complete hope of this work! Thank you!
