Vocal Worship Teams ...

“And He made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father--to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.”  Rev. 1:6

Participation in a worship leading team cannot be taken lightly.  It isn’t about being the best vocalist or holding a microphone, it is totally about worshipping God.  Leading worship by definition means that you must cultivate the habit of personal worship daily. It also requires consistently pursuing God in personal Bible study and prayer.

Leading others to sing and worship requires practicing and knowing the music. It requires consistent attendance for rehearsal and participation in worship services, whether singing in the choir or on a team.

To be able to lead worship well also requires that you be rightly connected to the team of people with whom you serve and with the church body. Team members are also expected to serve in other areas of ministry behind the scenes.

Each team has a team leader to insure that we have a full team for each service. The minimum necessary is a tenor, a soprano, and an alto in addition to the primary worship leader.  The leader also assigns a song to each member from a given worship service to use in prayer and in seeking scripture to go along with such to be presented at the rehearsal for encouragement and for possible use in the worship service.

Each worship leading team member is responsible to lead worship. This relates to spiritual, musical, emotional and physical preparation. Every worship team member should have the confidence to lead if necessary.

Paul says in Ephesians 4:1 "As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received".   Walking worthy of the calling we have received at least partly means offering our best to God, connected to the high purpose for which we have been called.

Rehearsals are Sunday evenings at 6:00 and Wednesdays at 7:45 with the choir / band rehearsals.  Worship team members agree to and sign a covenant to serve for one year.
